Efficient eradication of resistant bacteria

Efficient eradication of multi drug resistant bacteria will initially focus on two multi drug resistant strains of bacteria: Pseudomonas aeruginosa (the primary cause of severe lung infection in cystic fibrosis) and Acetinobacter baumannii (an emerging problematic multi drug resistant pathogen).
As only two completely new antibiotics have been approved by the FDA in recent decades, there is a clear general need for new innovative antimicrobial therapies. In this project, proprietary sensitizers will be combined with existing cheap and abandoned antibiotics. Preliminary experiments indicate that these combinations overcome resistance and result in effective elimination of the previously multidrug resistant strains.
