Metalloproteases and endothelial dysfunction

This project aims to beneficially modulate basic mechanisms underlying different aspects of endothelial dysfunction, and will try to identify new relevant targets and mechanisms. The research may make a significant scientific and therapeutic contribution to this major medical field. Endothelial dysfunction is one of the earliest indicators, but also a key causal factor of vascular disease. This often progresses into overt cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and peripheral vasculopathies, with functional and structural end-organ damage of the heart, kidney, brain, and other organs.
