Our society faces important challenges if we are to identify and overcome the barriers to drug innovation. Whether these barriers are the result of scientific constraints regulatory inefficiencies or market failure is still under debate. There is a great need for new innovative models that will meet society's wish to balance the access to effective, safe and affordable medicines against the provision of sufficient incentives for investors to stimulate pharmaceutical R&D, entrepreneurship and business opportunities.

Objectives:

• Developing instruments and methodologies to identify disease and indication priorities
• Inventory of the drug related problems in clinical practice
• Developing instruments/methodologies to assess the key economic and societal attributes of indications and products
• Developing models for improving the internal efficiency of the pharmaceutical pipeline
