TI Pharma researcher is awarded 250,000 euros for research on Parkinson's disease
NWO has awarded a Veni subsidy to 143 young researchers who have recently obtained their PhDs. Rob Lane, a researcher on our GPCR project, is one of the winners. He will receive 250,000 euros to develop his ideas and carry out research over a period of three years. Rob Lane won the award for his submission entitled 'Analyzing a new focal point in Parkinson's disease'.
He explains: "There is a particular protein in the brain that plays a significant role in Parkinson's disease. In this project, we will study how this protein works. We hope to use the findings to develop new medicines." In total, 809 researchers submitted a research proposal to NWO. Their applications were assessed by Dutch and international scientists.
