Announcement
‘Barriers to Pharmaceutical Innovation'

On 28 April, the TI Pharma Escher project will organize the workshop ‘Barriers to Pharmaceutical Innovation’. A number of international experts will give their view on this topic, including Prof Hans-Georg Eichler (EMA, London), Prof Donald Light (Princeton, US), Prof Dick de Zeeuw (UMCG) Prof Huub Schellekens (UU), Jacob de Vlieg (MSD) and Jackie Hunter (GSK/IMI). This workshop is for invitees only.

The project focuses on delivering evidence and credibility for regulatory reform and policy recommendations.

Workshops & Events
Impression workshop ‘Modeling and simulation approaches’

In November TI Pharma and BioLogue/University of Copenhagen organized the workshop 'Modeling and Simulation Approaches'. The workshop took place in Leiden and Copenhagen. Click here for an impression and the workshop report.

Education & Training: Industry Day
20 researchers look behind the scenes in industry

TI Pharma organized its first Industry Day in Leiden. 20 researchers participated in the event, and got a look behind the scenes at companies like Crucell, Prosensa, Pharming, BioFocus, Flexgen and to-BBB. Jon de Vlieger, who participated in the event, commented: "The industrial day provides an overview of the variety of opportunities a PhD graduate has within the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. It challenges the participants to think about their own careers.” In 2010 a similar program is scheduled for other cities in the Netherlands.

Education & Training: Intellectual Property
30 researchers learn to recognize innovations and inventions

Together with the Center for Translational Molecular Medicine (CTMM) and the BioMedical Materials program (BMM), TI Pharma organized an awareness course on Intellectual Property (IP). In two workshops, thirty researchers learned how to identify and manage new inventions in translational complex research environments. Thanks to positive feedback, the course is expected to be scheduled twice in 2010.
