- Professor Joost Ruitenberg, Ph.D. (Chair)
Joost Ruitenberg is a professor of International Public Health at the Institute of Innovation and Transdisciplinary Research (VU University Amsterdam, the Netherlands), as well as professor emeritus of Immunology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Utrecht University, the Netherlands). Professor Ruitenberg has supervised more than 35 Ph.D. students and has authored or co-authored more than 500 national and international publications. - Professor Richard Laing, Ph.D.
Richard Laing was a professor of International Public Health at Boston University School of Public Health before joining the World Health Organization(WHO) in mid-2003 as a medical officer. At WHO, Laing is responsible for editing
the Essential Drugs Monitor and for coordinating training and research related to promoting rational use of drugs in the community. Professor Richard Laing was one of the authors of the 'Priority Medicines for Europe and the World' report. - Professor Povl Krogsgard Larsen, Ph.D.
Povl Krogsgard-Larsen is a professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the Danish University of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Prior to this, professor Krogsgard-Larsen held various academic positions including rector at The Royal Danish School of Pharmacy. He presently chairs the board of the Drug Research Academy. Professor Krogsgard has published several books and numerous articles and organized and co-organized various international symposia. - Professor Lawrence Lesko, Ph.D.
Lawrence Lesko has been the Director of the Office of Clinical Pharmacology in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research at the Food and Drug Administration since 1995. In addition to this, he has been appointed Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida and at the University of Southern California. Professor Lesko has published more than 135 papers in peerreviewed journals and is a popular national and international speaker. - Tim Wells, Ph.D.
Tim Wells is the Chief Scientific Officer of Medicines for Malaria Venture, Geneva, Switzerland. Prior to joining MMV, he was Senior Executive Vice President Research at Serono. From 1997 to 2007, he worked at the Glaxo Institute for Molecular Biology in Geneva, where he ran Protein Biochemistry, and led the research on Chemotactic cytokines. Tim has a Ph.D in Chemistry for Protein Engineering studies on enzyme catalysis, with Sir Alan Fersht. He was awarded an ScD in Biology from the University of Cambridge for his later work on Cytokine Biology. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. - Professor Alexander Florence, Ph.D.
Alexander Florence retired as Dean of The School of Pharmacy, University of London, a position he held since 1989. Previously, he was Professor of Pharmaceutics (1975-1988) at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. He has published over 270 papers. - Professor Trevor Jones, Ph.D.
Trevor Jones is a Director of Allergan Inc. (USA) and Senior R&D Advisor to Esteve SA (Spain) and Servier (France). From 1987 to 1994, he was the director of the board of The Wellcome Foundation, where he was responsible for R&D, including the development of AZT, Zovirax, and Malarone. In 2005, he won the SCRIP Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the pharmaceutical sciences and industry.
