About Top Institute Pharma
Top Institute Pharma (TI Pharma) is a public-private partnership in which scientific and business worlds work together on groundbreaking, multidisciplinary research aimed at improving the development of socially valuable medicines. This research precedes the stage in which companies develop individual medicines commercially. Our institute acts as an essential link in combining the knowledge present in science and industry. The collaboration within our research projects provides unique opportunities to strengthen the scientific foundation of pharmaceutical research in the Netherlands.
Our research projects are, for a large part, focused on research that is difficult or impossible for individual companies to perform. Our research portfolio is based on the disease areas as specified in Priority Medicines, a report by the World Health Organization (WHO). The knowledge gained in these projects provides an important contribution to better, faster and less-expensive development of valuable new medicines.
Strategic Research Program
Since our launch in 2006, our organization has experienced rapid growth. So far, 48 research consortia have been formed, combining 27 universities, their affiliated medical centers and knowledge institutes and 46 industrial partners including global pharmaceutical companies and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Education & Training
Our aim is to create a new generation of researchers. Fellows working in our partnerships are part of a focused research project. They work in a cross-disciplinary team with a common goal; their work is translational, bridging different fields of expertise. Their training is supplemented with advanced drug discovery training programs, dealing with the entire process of drug discovery and development.
The multilateral consortia offer our fellows the opportunity to learn from our partners and carry out their work at several partner locations. This expands their network as well as their career prospects at the end of a project. Read more >>
